In this workshop organized by Rural Hack and the World Food Forum Italy Chapter, Alex Giordano, Khalil Noran, Amy Riolo, and Maria Carmela Serluca discuss the role of the Mediterranean Diet in the face of contemporary food system challenges. The conversation explores topics such as the One Health approach, the relationship between food, health, and the environment, the role of local territories in the agri-food transition, and the limits of information alone as a driver of dietary change. Drawing on scientific, institutional, and cultural perspectives, the speakers offer a systemic reading of the Mediterranean Diet — understood not merely as a nutritional model, but as a cultural, social, and territorial heritage capable of contributing to the construction of more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive food systems.
