FoodSystem 5.0: Innovation and tradition for the future of food
Alex Giordano’s book FoodSystem 5.0 explores a new agri-food model that puts technological innovation at the service of people and communities, inspired by the values of the Mediterranean Diet. The author proposes an approach that combines digital technology, sustainability and tradition to tackle global food-related challenges, such as climate change, biodiversity loss and social inequalities.

The paper produced by researchers at RuralHack – a project within Societing4.0 that explores both the cultural and technological aspects of the relationship between open hardware and agriculture – has identified 42 blockchain-based projects in the food supply chain – both international and Italian – between 2016 and 2018, the number of which has doubled over the past year.
