Rural areas such as Cilento and the Apennine valleys are facing a demographic and social crisis that threatens the very survival of local communities. However, depopulation is not an inevitable fate: these territories today represent spaces for experimentation with new models of living and production. The challenge is to move beyond an assistentialist approach and build a strategic alliance that places human capital, services, and rural quality of life at the center.
Rural Hack contributes to the definition and implementation of a “Living Pact,” aimed at creating a network between institutions, citizens, and innovators. The goal is to transform marginal areas into hubs of social and technological innovation, supporting policies that encourage young people to stay or return. Through the co-design of relational and digital infrastructures, the project seeks to demonstrate that building a future in rural areas is possible, promoting fair development that values local authenticity as a global growth asset.
